Stretching Exercises – Upper Body

Flexibility is key to a healthy body. Stretching upper body muscles will ensure your muscles stay limber and these exercises feel good, too!

To stretch the muscles across your upper back and shoulders, put your arms in front of you, cross your hands, and push forward until you feel a stretch. Hold the stretch for 15 seconds.

 

Stretch your neck in four spots! Pull your head to one side at a time and hold for 15 seconds. Switch sides & repeat. Then stretch your neck to the forward/right on the diagonal. Hold for 15 seconds. Switch sides & repeat.

To start the overhead tricep stretch, reach your right hand behind your back, as shown.

With your left arm, grab your right elbow. Pull your right elbow back and feel the stretch. Hold for 15 seconds. Switch arms and repeat.

 

Put your right arm across your body. Use your left hand on the right elbow to pull the arm and shoulder. Feel the stretch in the shoulder. Hold for 15 seconds. Switch arms and repeat.

 

To stretch your forearm and wrist, hold your left arm out in front of you and bend your left hand down. Use your right hand to hold the left hand down in a stretch. Hold for 15 seconds. Switch arms and repeat.
