Essence Eyeshadows - Are These for Mature Women?
I demonstrated three eyeshadow palettes from Essence. I’m always testing whether eyeshadows are good for mature eyes, whether the shadows last all day, and how they apply.
These are the 3 palettes I purchased —
Essence Salut Paris - a pink, brown, & taupe palette
Essence Ola Rio - a warm palette with several shimmer shades
Essence G’Day Sydney - a warm palette with aquas and green
I started with a base of the lightest color in the Ola Rio palette.
After testing a color for the transition shade, I changed my mind. For the second try, I combined two colors from the Salut Paris palette — the light beige and the charcoal taupe. I dipped my brush several times into each.
Next, I used a small angled brush and dipped into the charcoal taupe color again….
…to outline the outer-V. And then blended the colors.
Still in the Salut Paris palette, I chose the light pink shimmer shade for my mobile lid.
The light pink shimmer on the mobile lid created a nice, light look.
As one last fun color, I chose this plum shade, also in the Salut Paris palette.
I applied the plum color to just the outer mobile lid and then blended the colors one last time.
So here is what I think about the Essence palettes —
They are not very pigmented (as compared to other palettes such as Too Faced or Tarte). In a way, that is good for those of us with “mature eyes” since too much shadow can look goofy. If you haven’t worn much makeup for several years and you want to get back to wearing eyeshadow again without it looking like too much, the Essence palettes would be great for you.
These shadows do have a lot of fallout. Keep a clean, fluffy brush handy to brush away any excess eyeshadow that ends up on your cheeks!
This is the finished look! The eyeshadow lasted all day. I especially like how the transition shade looked and how the light pink shimmer shade looked on my mobile lids!
