"The Ordinary" Skincare Serums for Anti-Aging!

The Ordinary - Serums - thumbnail.jpg

If you’re looking for affordable skincare serums, The Ordinary is a great place to start. I decided to test out 3 vitamin C products and 2 peptide serums. Of course, I’m comparing them to other serums I use that I know work well for me.

I’ve had good results using vitamin C serums for several years. It has truly smoothed out my skin. I saw results after using “C” daily for six months.

When shopping at The Ordinary, I started with the vitamin C serum that is a 20% solution because I’ve been using a 20% solution for a few years. The Ordinary’s 20% product is a light, thin solution, which I like because the thinner products absorb into the skin quickly. This 30 ml serum is only $17.80 (as of this writing). I thought this worked just as well as my other 20% solution products.

If you’re just starting off with vitamin C serum, starting with a product that is a lower percentage of vitamin C is a good idea. This one is 12% vitamin C. It is a thicker product and takes a little longer to absorb into the skin. This 30ml bottle is only $12.90 as of this writing! I think it’s a perfectly good C serum to start with as an introduction to vitamin C.

To go a little more hardy, I decided to try The Ordinary’s vitamin C suspension 30% in silicone. The silicone in the product makes it easier on the skin. It does tingle a little bit! I only use it once a week - at night - and then apply a nice peptide serum and a moisturizer over it.

I’d suggest trying this product after using a 20% vitamin C serum for 1 year. That will prep your skin for this hardier product. It only costs $6.80 for a 30 ml tube.

I chose to try two of The Ordinary’s peptide serums. This one is called “The Buffet”. It contains Matrixyl 3000, Matrixyl synthe’6, Syn-AKE, Relistase, Arigirelox, and probiotic peptide complexes. Peptides are believed to support skin’s elasticity and hydration, and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

I like to use it right after applying a vitamin C serum. The 30 ml bottle is $14.80 - a great bargain.

The other peptide serum I purchased from The Ordinary is the Matrixyl 10% + HA product. The two peptides in it are the Matrixyl 3000 and Matrixyl synthe’6 and it’s set in HA, hyaluronic acid. HA works very well with moisturizer, so I always apply a moisturizer right after a product that has HA in it, whether a moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning or a regular moisturizer at night.

This appears to be a very nice peptide + HA product! A few drops will do ya. A 30 ml bottle is only $11.50.

Here is a photo of all 5 of the products I purchased. The two brown bottles contain the vitamin C serums (which is important — “C” serums should always be stored in a dark or opaque container).
